In this outdoor summer screening, presented by LA Filmforum and Livonian Cinema in collaboration with Arlington Garden, a range of contemporary short experimental films will all look closely at the life and realms of gardens. A garden can be seen to parallel a film: from small moments and separate bits of life, combined with intention and labor, grows a work that invites one in, allowing distraction or absorption. The idea of a garden itself carries realms of history and meaning: the notion of taming wilderness, mixing flora that might not normally grow together, the labor involved in creating and tending, the use and consumption of natural resources, the mix of science and aesthetics, labels of native and invasive plants, colonial reach and tranquil beauty. Filmforum returns to Pasadena for this set of films in Arlington Garden's Olive Allée. Filmforum was started by Terry Cannon, then 21 years old, with its first full season, January-March 1976, held at the Neighborhood Church, just 1.8 miles from Arlington Garden up Orange Grove.  Pasadena Filmforum used several locations in the city over the following eight years, then relocated to Los Angeles in Fall 1984.

Please bring a blanket, cushion, or low portable chair for seating in the Olive Allée. A limited number of chairs will also be available on a first come, first served basis. Comfortable clothing is recommended, and you are welcome to bring non-alcoholic beverages and refreshments. Free parking is available on Orange Grove and State. Street at Westridge School, a short walk from the garden,

Resonance: A Yoga & Sound Journey is a practice led by Pasadena-raised yoga teacher (and musician) Qur’an Shaheed with a guest musician on second Sundays of each month at Arlington Garden. The late morning/early afternoon session blends movement, breath, and live music outdoors to deepen the mind-body-nature connection. This immersive experience weaves together flowing asana, guided breathwork, and intuitive soundscapes, creating space for inner alignment and self-discovery. Rooted in both stillness and rhythm, each session invites you to tune in, release, and move in harmony with the present moment. Each month features a different musical collaborator.  Participation in yoga is optional, and if you just want to lay underneath the trees and listen that’s absolutely encouraged! These limited capacity monthly classes are now free of charge thanks to a grant from the California Community Foundation.

A fungi-focused community education group organized by mycologist Aaron Tupac, Exploring the Mycoverse meets to intentionally cultivate community and discuss how fungi can remind us of our interconnectedness. It is a values-based community inspired by fungi working together to learn how to be in better relationship with the more-than-human world. Each workshop is unique with a dedicated topic, and approaches to exploration have included guest speakers, book discussions, the Fungi Film Festival, and more.  All events are free and open to the public - you are always welcome to join! Founded by mycologist Aaron Tupac in July 2021, Mycoverse has hosted over 100 workshops, reaching more than 1,000 people. The Mycoverse usually meets twice a month on alternating Mondays, in the Olive Allée at Arlington Garden.

Join us in communing with the sunset under the olive trees in the beauty and tranquility of nature through meditative ragas and world music soundscapes. A trio of musicians will facilitate a musical healing experience & dialogue with ragas from India featuring Alma Cielo on sarangi, Paul Livingstone on sitar, and Neelamjit Dhillon on  bansuri & tabla. This sonic journey inward will slow the heart rate, calm the mind and enter you into a space of healing through the music. Music Meditation Medicine is a series at varied locations across Pasadena and Altadena, presented by Altadena-based music organization Soul Force Project dedicated to inspiring 21st century leadership through the power of music, education, and the arts.

Hosted at Arlington Garden since February 2025, Holding Space is a gathering for all ages event organized by Hands in the Soil (HITS) dedicated to rest, renewal, collective healing, and community recovery in partnership with nature. Holding Space is a community gathering focused on deep listening, reflection, and collective healing in nature, with Arlington Garden offering a sanctuary for restoration and connection. This free wellness pop-up is an ongoing effort that supports and centers the communities and families who continue to heal from the impacts of the Eaton Fire. Intentional monthly activations—ranging from movement and meditation to grief circles and creative expression—cultivate a space for all to pause, reconnect, and strengthen bonds within community. Through creativity, collective care, and connection to nature, we hold space for grief, renewal and resilience. This program is made possible thanks to a generous grant from the California Community Foundation.

On the almost eve of the Autumnal Equinox, join wildlife team staff from Pasadena Humane and Arlington Garden for a fall edition of the drop in wildlife observation and nature journaling Nature Sit program with Certified California Naturalist Eduardo Ochoa-Guijarro of the Pasadena Humane Wildlife Team. Drop in between between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19 to check out seasonal wildlife observation resource table and get a primer on nature journaling techniques, then explore the garden at your own pace! The Pasadena Humane Wildlife Program team are happy to chat with you about the some of the plants and wildlife that you might find, so feel free to check back at the table. We'll have a small selection of paper, pencils, clipboards, binoculars, and field guidebooks available for use. Feel free to bring your preferred supplies, such as personal scopes,  drinking water, binoculars, cameras,  journaling materials, and a foldable camping chair you can move around the garden for optimal viewing! Share  your knowledge and use community science tools like eBird, Merlin Bird ID, and iNaturalist, as citizen scientists and contributors to documenting urban wildlife at Arlington Garden.
